Sous Vide

 I couldn't resist a new gadget so I picked up the Anova Nano with some reusable sous vide bags. The food turned out pretty good - a one lb ribeye, salted, peppered, lemon-juiced, and Armagnac-ed. An hour at 132F SV followed by patting dry and searing on a metal pan. The left over juice went into the sauce along with minced shallots. I don't think the bags are reusable though - at least not after they've been used to cook flesh so I may switch to Ziplocs that are otherwise destined for the trash. 

2021 R1250RS

I lowsided on my 2016 R1200RS in March of 2020. Not much more to say about the EVENT- brand new overinflated tires, a wet slippery, cold road and I went down a mile away from the service department while taking a gentle left turn. Like an idiot I put my leg down and broke my fibula and lateral malleolus. It took a few months to heal and then I discovered that I had dropped-bike-PTSD so I ordered a new bike in March of 2021. It arrived in July, thanks to the global shipping container crisis. 

The 2021 R1250RS is a very easy ride. Electronic options are plentiful, although the interface is a bit clumsy, and badly communicated in the BMW ower's manual. Fortunately, there is a user forum. I added a satnav because I don't really want my phone connected to the machine. I don't want to play music. I don't want the BMW Connected App tracking me for marketing purposes while it drains my battery. I also don't want to add a USB-C charger for my phone and I sometimes ride in areas without cell phone coverage. 

Let's see... I ordered the Shad SH36 and SH45 cases using the pretty generous July 4th discount code. Shad gave me a free upgrade to the SH47. I ordered a second keyfob. I figured out how to connect my Schuberth R2 helmet to the TFT and Navigator. I only use voice navigation when I'm trying to find a specific address. I noticed that in Champaign, IL the satnav sucked once I got out a few miles. This, after updating the software.

Other stuff- Helibar bar risers. BMW riding suits and boots. Held gloves. BMW tank bag. Spare luggage straps. A Camelback. Chargers and a Ham radio that I'm licensed to use in the 2 meter band. Thus, cell phone, satnav, and radio. 

Overall, I'm riding a wonderful piece of machinery. Very few people get to do this and I feel fortunate.
