First Effort

The contents of this blog have some truth in them. Think of them as being semi-autobiographical with some fiction and anonymization thrown in for good measure. I split my time across a small town in the MidWest and the Metro-DC. There are pluses and minuses to both places. There's a spouse and a house in the MidWest (both excellent but the spouse has the edge) and an apartment in Metro-DC.

The other day, I ran into one what I think was one of the apartment residents drinking tequila in the parking garage and looking morosely out at the traffic. So I nodded politely and made some remark about the weather being reasonable for a change and got a lecture on life, why it sucked, and what it meant to be lonely. I said that I agreed entirely and tried to escape but was then interrogated as to my identity during which I was told that I must one of those foreign guys who were into computers and that my name couldn't be David. So I said that my name was David but she could call me Sanjay if she wanted. The rest, however, described me perfectly- boring, middle-aged, unadventurous, and into computers. This apparently struck a chord because I got a slightly tipsy smile and was asked what I did for fun. So I said that I never had fun- I was boring, middle-aged, foreign and into computers- remember? I got another tipsy smile and was told that I was OK after all. So I thanked the lady and said she was OK too but that I had to go and do something boring.
